How it works

Bradford Community SOUP aims to change our local communities for the better by bringing together members of those communities to pitch their ideas for improving our area – from social justice to community cohesion, from animals to art, from support groups to sport, the only criteria is that it should benefit the Bradford District.

It is based on the popular Detroit SOUP event.

We’re now meeting face-to-face again, with real soup!

Show up

Come to our next SOUP event and get soup, bread, other tasty treats and an all-important voting token. You’ll also have an opportunity to donate to the prize pot. All of our food and drink is donated, sponsored or rescued from being thrown away, so every penny you donate when you arrive goes into the prize pot.

Arrive from 6.30pm, mingle and chat.

Listen up

At 7pm, after a short introduction, three projects pitch their ideas and bid for your support. The only rule for projects is that they must benefit the community in the Bradford area.

Each presenter has a few minutes to share their idea, followed by a few questions from the floor.

Listen to each project pitch, ask a question, see who inspires you with their vision and ideas.

Eat up

After the pitches, you get to enjoy your food (it’s likely to include soup…), chat to others and discuss the projects.

And don’t forget to place your voting token into the box for the project that gets your vote.

Finish up

Just before 9pm, the winning project is announced and the prize pot is allocated according to the votes.

Make sure you come back to the next Bradford SOUP event for an update from the winner about how they have used the money to benefit your community.
